Reds on the trail of young striker Gianluca Scamacca.

Liverpool are ready to offer a lucrative £135,000 per year contract to teenage Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca in a bid to lure him away from Serie A giants AS Roma, report the Express, with Brendan Rodgers and the Reds seemingly keen to get their hands on a prospect who was been dubbed ‘the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic’.

Just fifteen years old, Scamacca is already one of the stars of the Azzurri’s Under 17 side and is also rated as a bright star of the future by his club Roma, but Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to invest in youth and sees Scamacca as a player who is worth pursuing, despite the clear issues that the Reds have in their first team squad.

Roma will offer Scamacca a senior contract at the Stadio Olimpico once he reaches the required age, but the report suggests that the player’s family and representatives believe that the teenager could receive a more lucrative offer from abroad and are willing to explore that option.

Having netted 34 goals in 30 games for the Italian side’s youth team, however, it should come as no surprise that there are other sides beyond Liverpool interested in the services of Scamacca – with PSV Eindhoven and Southampton both mentioned by the report.
