Old Trafford side chase Nou Camp midfielder.

Barcelona star Sergio Busquets is apparently considering his options and could be interested in a fresh challenge having spent his entire career at the Nou Camp, leading to Man United’s apparent interest in the midfield battler according to the Daily Express.

This source states that the 26 year old’s decision to consider a possible exit from the club he has represented for almost a decade is fueled by Luis Enrique’s stuttering start as Barcelona boss.

Busquets has proved a hugely successful member of Barcelona’s glittering side but is perhaps much maligned due to his role predominantly revolving around dealing with the ‘uglier’ side of the game, namely halting opposition advances and providing a metronome-esque presence in the centre of the park.

Clearly Louis van Gaal can see the value in bringing in a player of Busquets talents and could see the lanky Spanish international as a logical long term replacement for Michael Carrick.

Busquets is currently tied down to a long term deal, which runs until 2018, but a decent offer may perhaps tempt Barcelona into selling if the locally born player were to make it clear he wanted to leave for pastures new.

Now into his seventh season in Barcelona’s first team set-up, Busquets has already racked up over 300 appearances for the club and has played a key, if underappreciated, role in four La Liga title triumphs and has won two Champions League winners medals to boot.
