Ferdinand appeared to put his hands around the neck of Olivier Giroud in QPR’s defeat.
Queens Park Rangers defender Rio Ferdinand has issued a somewhat flippant apology through Twitter, after the former England and Manchester United star appeared to put his hands around the neck of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud just before the Frenchman received a straight red card. Giroud appeared to headbutt Rangers left back Armand Traore and can have no complaints about his red card, but Ferdinand was perhaps fortunate not to follow him into the dressing rooms ahead of schedule.

Disappointing result..could have nicked a draw towards the end with a bit of luck! Ps..apologies for feeling the hairs on Girouds neck back!
