Juventus Tell Man United Target That He Will Be Sold Without Improvement

Midfielder Arturo Vidal has not been performing to a high enough standard this season.

Juventus have told highly rated midfielder Arturo Vidal that he will be sold at the end of the season if he does not improve his performances during the remaining months of the campaign, report the Express, despite repelling interest from Manchester United in the Chilean box-to-box star throughout the entirety of the summer transfer window.

Injury issues surrounding Vidal’s knee plagued his World Cup with Chile, however, and have continued into the new season, with Vidal’s performances being affected both by that and some off the field, behavioural issues that have seen him dropped by new Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri.

United were linked with a £40 million move for Vidal throughout the entirety of the summer, with the Chilean seemingly identified as an ideal candidate to beef up Louis van Gaal’s options in central midfield, but the Serie A champions were never willing to entertain selling the former Udinese star.

If United were to return with a new offer for Vidal, however, it seems plausible that they would be able to get their man this time around, and potentially for a much more reasonable fee, although the report does suggest that the Red Devils’ first choice is now Borussia Dortmund playmaker Ilkay Gundogan.
