The 34 year old will put pen to paper on an 18 month deal worth £3.9m a year, which would work out as approximately £75k a week, with the Anfield star having already publicly confirmed he is heading to the United States having made the decision to end his lengthy Liverpool career.

Gerrard will fill a designated player spot in the LA Galaxy squad with Landon Donovan having retired from the game at the end of the last MLS campaign.

One wonders if the StubHub Center side will include a clause that prevents Gerrard from being loaned back to a Premier League side after he joins the club having seen Frank Lampard’s move to New York City FC seemingly knocked off kilter following his ‘loan’ move to Man City.

Gerrard has made 690 appearances in 17 seasons in the Liverpool first team set-up, netting 180 goals in the process.
