Emirates Stadium side ready to fork out big sum for ideal signing.
Arsenal are ready to pay £27m to land long term target Morgan Schneiderlin according to the Sunday Mirror.
Arguably the 25 year old Frenchman is precisely the type of signing Arsene Wenger should be looking to make in January, or failing that in the summer, with the Gunners suffering with something of a ‘soft-centre’.
Neither Mikel Arteta or Mathieu Flamini are consistently filling holding/defensive midfield roles with any level of real quality and a shortage of options in this regard even led to Wenger recalling Frances Coquelin from his loan spell at Championship side Charlton Athletic.
Schneiderlin had been looking likely to follow a number of his team-mates to a St Mary’s exit last summer but the South-Coast side managed to keep hold of the midfielder and Ronald Koeman’s season has of course got off to a flyer.
Indeed it’s the Saints superb season thus far that may delay any potential move for Morgan Schneiderlin as he could well be ready to stay put as he looks to secure a top four finish with Southampton.
If he fails in that regard then a £27m bid for his services may well be considered, especially if the former Strasbourg man makes it clear he wants to make the high-profile move to the Emirates Stadium.
