The promising young forward has not managed to find many first-team opportunities this season due to some high quality competition for places upfront at the Emirates Stadium.

Sanogo has managed just one goal for Arsenal in his time at the club, and will now be sent out on loan to gain experience of playing week in, week out in the English top flight.

Bordeaux had also been keen to snap up the 21-year-old, but Wenger wanted him to stay in England and it now looks as though Selhurst Park will be his destination this season.

Alan Pardew recently took over at Palace after leaving Newcastle United and could make Sanogo his first signing as the Eagles’ new manager.
