Hammers boss calls for midfielder to choose Upton Park move.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has called on Alex Song to choose a permanent move to Upton Park instead of being tempted by bigger offers from the likes of Liverpool, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Cameroon international is currently on a season-long loan with the Hammers from La Liga giants Barcelona, and Allardyce believes he should use his disappointing time at the Nou Camp as an experience to learn from when choosing clubs.

Song left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2012, but barely featured for the Catalan giants in his two seasons with the team, returning to the Premier League this summer and impressing once again when given the chance to play regular first-team football.

Song’s fine form for Allardyce’s side has seen him attract interest from Liverpool, who are eyeing up the player as a potential Steven Gerrard replacement next season as Barca look set to sell him.

Still, Allardyce hopes he will choose to join West Ham permanently instead, saying: “Clubs might have a bigger history and tradition than ours but it is not always the case that they will succeed against you.

“In the end Alex moved to Barcelona which he thought was one hell of a move for him at the time and unfortunately he did not play, or as much as he wanted to.

“So it is fine being at these clubs but it is not that good if you are not playing if you are a footballer contrary to what most people think.”
