Ramos sees his current deal expire in the summer of 2017, but talks have already been put in place to keep him in the Spanish capital beyond that.

It is believed that Ramos is open to seeing out the remainder of his career at the Bernabeu, but that possibility has been cast into doubt after he reacted angrily to their latest offer.

Reports in Spain claim that his new contract still sees him earning less than the likes of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.

And his frustration could see the interested parties from the Premier League given fresh hope at snapping him up.

Ramos has recently been critical of the standard of Spanish refereeing, and highlighted his affection for the Premier League.

“I’m not going to talk about controversial issues and certainly not that incident,” he said.

“The only thing I will say is that, with every passing day, I prefer the English Premier League.

“What am I talking about? Obviously not about the ball-boys … the style of play, refereeing.

“People enjoy watching that competition. When one loses, it’s easy to focus on the refereeing decisions.”
