Brazilian will not be available to face Levante tomorrow.

Arsenal’s mooted transfer move for Villarreal’s Brazilian central defender Gabriel Paulista appears to have edged another step closer this evening, with the Spanish side announcing their matchday squad for the La Liga clash against struggling Levante tomorrow – a list on which Gabriel’s name does not appear.

Gabriel also doesn’t appear in the lists of players who are injured or suspended for the game against Valencian outfit Levante, which will inevitably lead to speculation linking him with an imminent move to the Emirates Stadium being ratcheted up to another level.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has already confirmed that he is interested in bringing the former Vitoria man to the Premier League, although the Frenchman did indicate that a deal was yet to be agreed with Villarreal and confirmed that there was also the potential hurdle of a work permit hearing to overcome.

Gabriel has been one of the standout performers for Villarreal at El Madrigal this season, having formed part of a defence that is the second most impressive in La Liga this campaign and been a cornerstone of the team who have remained undefeated since early November.
