The White Hart Lane manager is keen to strengthen his ailing attack and the 22-year-old may well be keen on a move to the north London club.

Ings is out of contract in the summer but despite the fact that Sean Dyche could lose the player for a compensation fee at the end of the season it seems unlikely that the Clarets would consider selling the player in January.

Keeping hold of the England Under 21 international will clearly greatly improve the club’s chances of avoiding the drop and the sums involved in retaining their Premier League status are well beyond a £5m offer this month.

Ings netted 26 goals in all competitions last term and has bagged seven Premier League goals this campaign, and is a player who has clearly proven himself capable of regularly netting at the highest level.

Tottenham are also said to be interested in Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez and West Brom youngster Saido Berahino, though a move for Ings would more than likely be the cheapest option.

Ings is a superb natural finisher, and could form a brilliant young English striking partnership alongside the impressive Harry Kane – one of the breakthrough performers of this season.
