Arsenal have been handed a massive boost in their chase for Schalke star Julian Draxler after he confirmed that he would be ‘very interested’ in a move to the club at some point in the future, the Metro reports.

The 20-year-old is billed as one of the most exciting young talents to come out of Germany in a long time, and has repeatedly been linked with a move to the Premier League over the past 18 months.

While Manchester United and Chelsea have been credited with some interest, it’s Arsenal’s scouts who have been to see him the most.

The Gunners have been closely linked with his signature before, but now a deal looks as though it would not be impossible in the future following his comments on the club’s supposed interest.

“I have always said English teams are very big clubs and Arsenal is of course one of them,” said Draxler.

“Of course I sometimes speak to Mesut Ozil or Per Mertesacker about the team, about the club, and they always have good words and they tell me nice things.

“They always have very young players, they play attractive football and that’s what I like.

“You never know what happens – but Arsenal is a very, very nice team.”

However, before Gunners fans get too excited, the Germany international did take steps to confirm that he would not be leaving the Bundesliga giants during the January window.

“I won’t switch in the winter,” he added.

“It’s very important for me to play nearly every game. For my club I have the chance to play nearly every game, it’s important for me to improve myself.

“I’ve said every summer I have to look what is the best for me and I will do in the summer again and we will see what happens.”

Arsenal already have a plethora of talent in attacking midfield, with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all competing for places – so it remains to be seen whether or not the Gunners will move for the German ace come summer 2015.
