Reds to replace Gerrard with younger model.
Liverpool are said to be lining up a bid to sign Bolton Wanderers midfield youngster Josh Vela, who has been compared with Reds captain Steven Gerrard, the Metro reports.
The 21-year-old Championship star has been in superb form this season, impressing in two FA Cup games in the 4th round against Liverpool, whilst also being the subject of interest from Premier League clubs in the past.
Liverpool need a new signing for next season as Gerrard prepares to call time on his Anfield career and move to MLS side LA Galaxy, and Vela could be an ideal replacement.
The highly-rated talent has been compared to Gerrard by his manager Neil Lennon, and could benefit from Brendan Rodgers’ fondness for bringing through young players.
