The Uruguayan star said he grew tired of the coverage he received from the press in England during his stay at Anfield, which saw him make headlines for racially abusing Manchester United’s Patrice Evra and biting Branislav Ivanovic.

Though Suarez said that the most annoying point was allegations in the British media that he had bitten Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis during Barcelona’s 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

The striker, who is no stranger to a suspension, having recently served a four month ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup in Brazil, was quoted in Metro saying, “I don’t know if the English press have a campaign against me, but it looks like they miss me.

“They criticised me a lot, looking for things that weren’t there and calling attention to them.

“They published images of me [allegedly biting Manchester City’s Demichelis] in the morning and when they saw that it was false, the images suddenly disappeared.

“They talk too much and they didn’t leave me in peace and I left because I was tired of them, but they continue looking for something.”

Suarez is certainly missed on Merseyside following his 31 goals haul last season, but has recently been in good form for Barcelona, scoring six goals in the last four games.
