United have a deal in place which would allow them to make the deal for the striker permanent, but it is widely expected that Louis van Gaal will wash his hands of the Colombian in the summer, and allow him to return to Monaco. However, he may yet be coming back to the Premier League next season.

Brendan Rodgers is reportedly desperate to offload Mario Balotelli, as his bizarre behaviour increases while his goal tally does not, and may turn to the 29-year-old as a shock replacement.

Chelsea will also need to bolster their attacking options in the summer. Club legend Didier Drogba is expected to retire at the end of the campaign, and Loic Remy may grow unhappy being an understudy, leaving just Diego Costa. However, his temperament and recent goalless spell have given Jose Mourinho reason to worry.

United’s buy-out clause is believed to be around £45m, and even though his stock has fallen after a poor season, he is still expected to cost too much for either interested party to take him permanently.
