Manchester United look set to beat rivals Arsenal in the race to sign departing Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira with the German midfielder’s contract set to expire in June, according to a report in the Metro.
Khedira has failed to agree a new deal at the European champions and looks set to leave the Bernabeu, and is likely to demand higher wages from his next club given that the move will not involve a transfer fee.
The World Cup winner looked set for a move to Schalke, but the Metro believe that Khedira looks like favouring a move to Old Trafford due to the higher chance of getting a more regular starting berth in the team.

Arsenal had been heavily linked with the former Stuttgart man since the summer according to the Mirror, but is seems as though Arsene Wenger has an eye on Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin with the Evening Standard claiming that the Frenchman is high on the Gunners list.
