Manchester United target admits it’s ‘nice to hear’ of interest, wants Champions League football

Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne has admitted that it is nice to hear that Manchester United are interested in him, reports the Daily Express.

The England international also revealed that he is aiming to one day play in the Champions League and to win the Premier League title. The Red Devils look likely to be in the latter competition next season, and could well be looking to kick on and challenge for the top flight in the next campaign. Meanwhile the Saints are looking set for the Europa League and another summer of struggling to hold on to their players.

Antonio Valencia and Rafael are Louis van Gaal’s options at right-back at the moment, and the 24-year-old would surely be an upgrade on either of these players. Clyne has been in great form for the South coast side this season, helping their defence to concede the least goals in the division.

He said: “I’m an ambitious person and want to try and win the title and play in the Champions League. It’s nice to hear teams are interested in you.”
