Lavezzi enjoyed five fine years in the Italian top flight with Napoli between 2007 and 2012, having previously failed to make a mark at Genoa.

He won the Coppa Italian in 2012 before moving to PSG for €26.5 million. He has enjoyed great success in the French capital, winning Ligue 1 twice, the Coupe de la Ligue twice and the Trophee des champions in 2013 and 2014.

However, this term, the forward has struggled to live up to his own high standards, having scored only four goals in 24 Ligue 1 appearances

The likes of Valencia and Liverpool have been linked with his signature, but Lavezzi’s own mother has intimated that her son would prefer a move to Italy.

“He likes Italy a lot,” she began, as reported by Le 10 Sport, “he was adored there.

“And he speaks Italian very well.”

Her words will come as encouragement to Internazionale, who are another club to have been linked with his signature.
