Pogba: Barcelona have no plans to sign Manchester United target

The Spaniard signed from La Liga side Athletic Bilbao last summer, and has experienced an up and down first season in the Premier League. Despite a strong start with two goals in his first three games, the 25-year-old suffered a series of injuries and fell out of favour with manager Louis van Gaal.

However, over the last two months he has returned to the starting XI during a sequence of six straight victories that only ended on Saturday in their 1-0 loss to Chelsea. The centre-mid has impressed greatly during this run, and looks set to be a fixture in the midfield for years to come.

This has led to comparisons with Scholes, who made over 700 appearances for the Old Trafford outfit over a 22 year period. However, it seems that Herrera is keen to avoid being likened to the former England international.

When asked about the United hero he said: “There will never be another Scholes. He was a one off.”
