The 19-year-old scored twice in the win, before Sheyi Ojo sealed the victory late on from the penalty spot. However, it was the performance of Kent that would have really impressed those in attendance.

His first goal came just before the half-hour mark, as he nutmegged the Toffees’ Ryan Ledson, and placed a wonderful effort into Russell Griffiths’s bottom corner from around 25 yards out.

If his first was impressive, his second was sensational. He cut in from the left-hand side, before curling an inch-perfect strike into the far corner, with the ball clipping the post on its way.

The midfielder has only just returned from three months out with a back problem, but has taken no time to get back on the goalscoring trail. And with Liverpool’s season petering out into mediocrity, Brendan Rodgers may just be tempted to give the youngster his chance in the first-team.
