Manchester United are set to be disappointed in their quest for Belgium playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, with the Wolfsburg man stating a preference for a switch to Barcelona.

De Bruyne is set to be one of the key protagonists of the upcoming transfer window, with Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all believed to be tracking the Bundesliga star.
The 23-year-old only moved to the Volkswagen Arena in 2014, when he left Chelsea, but has already emerged as one of the key performers in the German top flight.
In 30 Bundesliga appearances so far this term, De Bruyne has scored 10 goals and contributed a terrific 17 assists—the most in the division so far this term.
While United have been rumoured to be planning to bring the former Genk man back to the Premier League, Mundo Deportivo have reported that the player himself would prefer a move to Barcelona.
However, with Barca banned from the transfer market until January 2016, do United still have hope of doing a deal for the Belgian?
