Chelsea are also interested in signing the right-back, but the 24-year-old would apparently prefer a move to Old Trafford to play alongside former teammate Luke Shaw.

The Red Devils have been forced to use Antonio Valencia in his position for much of the season and the England international would be a major improvement on the Ecuadorian, who is naturally a right winger.

The defender has played 33 times this campaign, scoring twice. However, more impressive is the fact that he is a part of the best defence in the Premier League. The Saints have conceded just 26 goals this season, with only Chelsea also letting less than 30 with 27.

The South coast club’s manager Ronald Koeman has reportedly given Clyne ten days to decide his future, but t would seem the full-back has already made his decision. It doesn’t look like a good one for his boss, who will be worried about an exodus that matches the one Southampton suffered last summer.
