The move, similar to that which Man United themselves have brought in Radamel Falcao on, would see the Ligue 1 champions pay the Premier League side £6m for a season long loan of the Argentine international and would also cover the former Real Madrid man’s wages.

Di Maria has struggled for form in his debut campaign at Man United and having confirmed the signing of Dutch wide-man Memphis Depay, and with an apparent interest in Bernabeu star Gareth Bale, it does appear the summer signing’s Old Trafford career may be over before it’s ever really got going.
Louis van Gaal hasn’t handed Di Maria a Premier League start in the past two months and his tally of just four goals in 31 appearances his poor and the lion’s share of his 11 assists came in an initial burst of good form last year.
