£10m Arsenal defensive target opens door to Emirates move

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Virgil van Dijk has revealed that he wants a transfer away from Celtic in the summer, which could tempt a host of Premier League clubs into an offer for the £10m-rated Dutch defender.

English trio Arsenal, Spurs and Southampton have all been linked with a move for the Celtic Park defensive ace.

The 23-year-old, despite speaking highly of the Hoops fans, isn’t satisfied with the quality and competition of the Scottish league – and is therefore seeking development elsewhere to progress his career.

He said in an interview with Holland’s Omroep Brabant radio station, “Celtic are a great club with a fantastic stadium and the fans are great, but the competition is not too good,” as quoted by the Metro.

“I want to develop. If the opportunity is there, I would definitely consider a transfer.”

The young defender is reportedly valued at £10m and, according to the Daily Record, the Scottish Premiership outfit will accept an offer of no less than the desired sum.

A call up to the senior Netherlands squad is unlikely for van Dijk while he plays in the SPL, so he will have to hope that the alleged interest from England’s top flight becomes a reality in the summer.
