The Argentine international had emerged as a top target for the Reds ahead of this summer’s transfer window, with Brendan Rodgers on the lookout for creative midfield players after Steven Gerrard’s departure to MLS giants LA Galaxy.

Still, PSG look to have done what they have to do keep hold of Pastore, who has been in fine form for the Ligue 1 champions again this season, helping them to a third straight title win.

Liverpool will now surely look elsewhere for new signings in the middle of the park, if reports from Fichajes.net on Pastore’s contract situation are correct.

Rodgers’ side have also been linked with AS Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic and Inter Milan youngster Mateo Kovacic to play that role.
