Man United star desperate to complete Real Madrid transfer before Monday

It was reported on Tuesday, in the Times, that the Spanish stopper is desperate to seal his move to the Santiago Bernabeu before the Red Devils’ pre-season gets underway at the club’s Carrington training ground on Monday.

The act of training with the Premier League heavyweights could certainly be an awkward experience for De Gea; given his desire to return to Madrid has been well-publicised over the past few months.

However, just a day later, AS claim that Louis van Gaal is expecting his current No.1 to regroup with his Manchester United team-mates next week, suggesting that the Dutchman is refusing to give in to the player’s demands.

Here’s the front-page of the Spanish newspaper today:

A club source revealed that, while the 24-year-old is itching to complete his move to Rafael Benitez’s side this week to avoid the humiliation of meeting up with his Man Utd team-mates, any deal is doubtful to be agreed upon by Monday.

“Unless a deal is struck before the start of next week, which is unlikely, then David will be back at the club for pre-season training, which is not ideal for all concerned,” as quoted by the Daily Star.

Red Devils boss van Gaal is said to be furious with the ongoing speculation over the Spain international’s Old Trafford future. Both Ed Woodward and the 63-year-old believe the former Atletico Madrid star has been influenced by the Spanish press in his desire to return to La Liga, the Express report.
