Manchester United transfer rumours

Turkish clubs Besiktas and Fenerbahce are reportedly looking to sign Manchester United players Robin van Persie and Nani respectively this summer, according to The Sun.

Neither player looks likely to be a regular member of Louis van Gaal’s first-team squad next season, with Nani struggling to impress as part of the side in recent times as he found himself shipped out on loan to Sporting Lisbon last term, while Van Persie also looks past his best after some unconvincing displays and only ten goals in 2014/15.

It seems that Nani’s move to Fenerbahce could already be in the works, with The Sun claiming that the Portuguese international has agreed personal terms on the move to Turkey, though a fee has yet to be sorted between the two teams, with United wanting more than the £3.5m that Fener have offered so far.

Meanwhile, Besiktas are yet to open talks, it would seem, but have been public about their interest in signing the former Arsenal striker this summer, with club director Yalcin Kaya Yilmaz saying he would be happy for his side to push themselves to the limit financially in pursuit of this big-name purchase.

Once regarded as one of the best attacking players in the world, Van Persie would clearly be an exciting buy for a club of Bestikas’ size, and Yilmaz has admitted it would be one he could push very hard for ahead of the new season.

“If the conditions are right, and if he wants to come, we are willing to make an offer even if it would push us to the limit financially,” Yilmaz is quoted in The Sun.

“He would really get the crowd going at the Arena and sales from season tickets and merchandise alone would be able to make back our investment.”

United let several players go last summer as Van Gaal rung the changes at Old Trafford, with big names like Danny Welbeck, Shinji Kagawa and Darren Fletcher being sold, and it could be that the former Bayern Munich boss will continue to make a number of adjustments to his squad this year.
