Manchester United are reportedly close to letting Brazilian right-back Rafael Da Silva leave the club for a move to Galatasaray this summer after bringing in Matteo Darmian, according to the Guardian.

The Red Devils have seemingly decided not to stick with Rafael this summer, despite the attack-minded defender once being considered an important member of the club’s first-team and a bright prospect for the future.

Having broken through under Sir Alex Ferguson a few years ago, Rafael’s fine form guided United to the Premier League title in 2012/13, but he soon lost his place in the starting lineup after the legendary Scot’s retirement, with neither David Moyes nor Louis van Gaal finding a place for him in the starting eleven.

It now looks like Rafael is closing in on an exit, with the Guardian also reporting that a deal for Italian right-back Darmian to join from Torino is close to completion, with a fee and personal terms all agreed.

This could be good business by United, with manager Van Gaal continuing to ring the changes after overseeing a number of high-profile ins and outs at the club last summer.

Memphis Depay has already joined from PSV this summer, while Robin van Persie is another United player looking like heading to Turkey, with a move to Fenerbahce imminent after talks begun, according to BBC Sport.
