The Argentine international has been strongly linked with a switch to the Bundesliga champions after struggling to adapt to demands of English football since his arrival from Real Madrid last summer.

Should United wish to sell the 27-year-old then they would be expected to recuperate a huge part of the club record £59.7m (as reported at the time on BBC Sport) they paid for him last year and Lahm feels the player will be out of Bayern’s price range:

“I don’t know if he is a candidate. I don’t know where he will go to or if he will stay,” Germany’s World Cup winning captain told Goal.

“He costs a huge amount of money. There are so many factors like salary and whatever,” Lahm added.

There have been rumours of a potential swap deal that would include Mario Gotze heading to Old Trafford [via Express Sport], although there has been no confirmation of that possibility and with Bayern set to lose Bastian Schweinsteiger to the Red Devils [via BBC Sport] , it would appear unlikely they will let another key player depart this summer.

Di Maria did show signs at the Copa America tournament that he his close to rediscovering his best form after scoring twice for Argentina in their 6-1 demolition of Paraguay in the semi-finals, but was forced off early in the final against Chile and could miss the start of the new season through injury.
