Arsenal and Tottenham face ominous competition in race for €45m transfer target

Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be firmly in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Westfalenstadion this summer, with Premier League pair Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both understood to be keen on the hitman [France Football].

According to Sky Sports [Le 10 Sport], the Gunners have already made a €45m bid for the player, although it was rejected by BVB, who are unwilling to see one of their top talents depart for such a fee.

The striker managed 25 goals and 11 assists in 47 matches last term, and it’s easy to see why the two Premier League giants are keen on recruiting the Central African hotshot.

However, the pair face considerable competition for the player, with PSG understood to have joined the race for the former Saint-Etienne attacker.

According to France Football [via Le 10 Sport], PSG are in contact with both the player and his representative and are in the process of discussing a summer moved.

“There has been contact between PSG and Aubameyang’s entourage via the intermediary Olivier Letang, the vice-sporting director of the capital club,” the report began.

However, despite there being a line of communication between Aubameyang and PSG, the reigning French champions are yet to make a firm offer for the player.

“Paris have followed the player with interest over these last few months,” the report continues.

PSG may well be keen to bring the forward back to French football as a potential replacement for one of various players linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 giants this summer. The likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic [Mirror], Edinson Cavani [Express] and Ezequiel Lavezzi [Metro] are all rumoured to be on their way out of the club this summer.
