Man United: Angel Di Maria transfer conclusion is ‘very close’ says PSG coach; star could make debut vs. former club

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has expressed his conviction that there will be a conclusion to Angel Di Maria’s transfer saga from Manchester United to Ligue 1 imminently.

The PSG manager—who won the French title with the capital club last term—has indicated that the move is ‘very close’, and that there could be confirmation by the time the Parisians meet United in a friendly match on Wednesday.

“PSG are looking for an offensive player,” Blanc admitted, speaking to L’Equipe.

“Will it be Di Maria? I hope so,” he continued.

The World Cup winner then looked ahead to PSG’ ongoing summer tour of the United States, and revealed that there was a possibility the Argentine international could make his debut for the French champions in their Wednesday friendly against United.

“He will surely come to the United States, but with which team? He plays for Manchester United at the moment and I hope that if that changes, it will be that he comes to us. We have to have patience a little longer.

“It’s not easy, between two big clubs. The outcome is very close, in my opinion,” he concluded.

The winger moved to Old Trafford last summer for a club record £59.7 million fee [Telegraph], but despite contributing 10 assists in the Premier League, he failed to convince in the North West.

United legend Paul Scholes is just one observer to have advised the Red Devils stick with Di Maria and hopefully reap the rewards down the line [Manchester Evening News], but his advice appears to have fallen on fallow ground.

Louis van Gaal appears set to offload the South African, with the Mirror reporting that the reigning French champions were preparing a £45.9 million bid to snare the 27-year-old.
