Serie A giants AS Roma agree £14m fee for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko

Edin Dzeko is edging closer to a departure from the Barclays Premier League as Manchester City have reportedly agreed a fee with Italian giants AS Roma.

Sky Sports broke the news via their official Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon as their sources believe £14million will be enough for the Serie A giants to now enter contract talks with the Bosnia and Herzegovina striker.

Dzeko’s future at the Etihad Stadium has been in doubt ever since the arrivals of Wilfried Bony and Raheem Sterling from Swansea City and Liverpool respectively in the last two transfer windows as those additions has further pushed him down the pecking order under manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The 29-year-old made just 11 starts in the Premier League last season and the last of his four goals during the campaign came in the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield back in March.

Should Dzeko complete a transfer to Roma, he is likely to be fondly remembered for scoring the crucial equaliser against Queens Park Rangers during City’s 2011-12 title winning campaign as the Blues may still be awaiting their first league title in 44 years had the Bosnian not found the back of the net to set up a dramatic finale.
