Man United confident David De Gea is set for Old Trafford stay: Real Madrid told to pay ‘Exceptional’ fee for keeper

Man United are reportedly confident that they will retain the services of David De Gea beyond the summer transfer window according to the Daily Telegraph.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for months but as yet the Old Trafford side have refused to sell the Spanish international.

Real Madrid failed with a £20m offer for De Gea last month and have been told to stump up £35m to sign the former Atletico Madrid man, a fee that would constitute a world record for a goalkeeper.

£35m is a big fee considering that in 12 months’ time David De Gea’s Man United current contract will have expired, leaving the player available on a free transfer and as such Real Madrid may elect to bide their time in preference to forking out such a sum.
