The Manchester City team to face West Ham United in the Barclays Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium this evening has been announced.

The club’s official Twitter account released news of the starting XI which manager Manuel Pellegrini has chosen to face a Hammers side that has already clinched victories against Arsenal and Liverpool on the road this season.

As reported on Friday afternoon, captain Vincent Kompany misses out as he hasn’t recovered from the injury he picked up in the Champions League game against Serie A giants Juventus in midweek and his place at the heart of the defence goes to summer signing Nicolas Otamendi, who makes his league debut.

There is also a first start in a City shirt for Kevin De Bruyne after two substitute appearances since his arrival from VfL Wolfsburg and he forms an exciting midfield trio alongside Raheem Sterling and David Silva behind the lone striker Sergio Aguero.
