Liverpool eyeing exciting move for Serie A star.

Liverpool are plotting a hugely exciting January move to sign Napoli winger Dries Mertens as they seek to truly replace Raheem Sterling out wide.

Having lost their star player to rivals Manchester City in the summer, the Reds are now short of quality in attack and have not looked at their best in that department at the start of this season.

Mertens has long looked like a potentially world class performer for club and country, and the Belgian international now seems open to moving to a bigger name as he looks to leave Napoli, according to Fichajes.net.

The 28-year-old combines pace, skill and an eye for goal to make him one of the finest wide-players in Europe, and there’s no doubt this move would be met by excitement by Liverpool fans.
