Liverpool make experienced South American forward their top transfer target

Liverpool have made PSG forward Ezequiel Lavezzi their number one transfer target according to the Daily Mirror.

The 30-year-old Argentine is now something of a bit-part player at the Parc des Princes following the arrival of fellow countryman Angel Di Maria and is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Brendan Rodgers has found his tenure in charge at Anfield under threat after an up and down start to the current campaign but the return of Daniel Sturridge could help boost their options in the final third.

New signings Christian Benteke and Danny Ings have both looked fairly decent since arriving over the summer but clearly Rodgers will not be happy with Liverpool’s tally of just seven goals scored in their opening seven Premier League fixtures.

Lavezzi, who is most frequently used in a wide-attacking role, has scored 33 goals in 139 appearances since moving to the French capital, though it’s worth noting that 43 of those appearances were from the bench.
