Arsenal make last ditch plans to sign winger from under Barcelona’s nose

Arsenal are believed to be weighing up a last-ditch effort to sign Paris Saint Germain winger Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to the Metro.

The Metro claims that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to add to his squad in the new year and has been alerted to the Argentine international’s availability.

Lavezzi has now entered the final year of his contract in the French capital, with the Metro reporting that the Ligue 1 giants could well be prepared to let him leave for a cut price fee when the transfer window opens.

And Italian publication Calciomercato (via talkSPORT) have suggested that Wenger is a big admirer of the 30-year-old and believes a deal to bring him to The Emirates Stadium would represent good value.

Barcelona have been linked with his signature recently and are currently favourites to snap him up, but Arsenal are keen to get the jump on the La Liga champions with a move of their own (via Metro).
