Dele Alli goal video: West Brom behind as Spurs wonderkid strengthens bid for Premier League award

Dele Alli has returned from his one-game suspension in style by scoring a stunning volley to put Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 up at West Bromwich Albion.

The 19-year-old England international, who missed last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea, latched onto a long pass from Toby Alderweireld, getting in between two Baggies defenders to volley first-time into the net.

Alli has now scored three goals in 19 senior appearances for Spurs, as well as a stunning long-range effort on his home England debut.

There is much more to Alli’s game than goals though. The former MK Dons starlet has quickly become one of Tottenham’s most important players, using his superb engine to effect matches at both ends of the pitch.

His confidence on the ball allows Spurs to keep possession well, but he is forever looking to create chances, with either a progressive pass or by dribbling past an opponent.

Alli’s fabulous start to the season makes him a clear frontrunner for this season’s PFA Young Player of the Year award. He also has a great chance of representing his country at next summer’s Euro 2016 finals in France.
