Liverpool eye move for unwanted Barcelona star

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been urged to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen as he continues to be snubbed in Spain.

According to The Independent, Liverpool fans have taken to social media to call on the club to sign the shot-stopper, as he has seemingly fallen out of favour at the Nou Camp.

After being left out of Barcelona’s Club World Cup campaign, the young German international doesn’t seem to figure in Luis Enrique plans having also made just four appearances in La Liga in 18 months.

As a result, he is said to be considering his options ahead of the January transfer window, with Claudio Bravo emerging as the first choice between the posts for the La Liga champions.

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Klopp has been dogged by issues with Simon Mignolet, as the Belgian has been far from convincing since the arrival of the German tactician earlier in the season.

His replacement, Adam Bogdan, was at fault for Watford’s opening goal in the 3-0 defeat on Sunday, and so Klopp may well be forced to act next month in order to address what is becoming a bigger problem as the season goes on.

It has also been suggested by the same publication that Liverpool are monitoring Steve Mandanda, who is expected to leave Marseille next month. However, at this time it appears as though Stegen is the priority for the Premier League giants, and he could well be handed an escape from Spain.
