Ahead of the official announcement from FIFA, the winner of the 2015 Ballon d’Or has been leaked to the public. Barcelona scoring machine Lionel Messi has been named the winner for a record-setting fifth time.
Per The Sun, Dutch journalist Michel Abbink leaked a photo on Twitter of the Ballon d’Or winners – both male and female – that showed Messi and German forward Celia Sasic winning their respective awards.

Messi was the go-to scoring threat for Barcelona during a season in which they won an astounding five titles: La Liga, the Copa Del Ray, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Neymar was excellent as well, scoring 39 goals for Barcelona. Ronaldo, in his usual scoring frenzy, recorded 61 goals in all competitions.
Over the past seven years, Messi and Ronaldo are the only two players to win the prestigious award.
