Croatian wonderkid Ante Coric has explained why he decided to turn his back on a possible move to Chelsea or Real Madrid and remain with Dinamo Zagreb during the January transfer window.

There has been no shortage of speculation linking Coric—known as the Croatian Messi—to one of Europe’s giants during the transfer window but, speaking to Goal, the youngster confirmed earlier this week that he would be staying put.

Spanish source AS [via the Telegraph] tipped Coric for a move to Chelsea in December, noting that the Stamford Bridge heavyweights had sent scouts to watch his progress.

Similarly, Goal noted that both Real Madrid and Manchester City were eyeing a move for the youngster, while Jutarnji List [as per Le 10 Sport] suggested that a whole host of European giants—including Bayern Munich, FC Porto, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain—were monitoring the progress of the wonderkid.

According to the final source, the player as a fee release clause of €15 million, a tempting price for one or two of his wealthier suitors.

However, as reported by Goal, the youngster has explained exactly why he hasn’t entertained any thoughts of leaving for one of his major admirers.

“Who would not be happy to sign for Real or Chelsea?” the youngster began. “But I’m aware that if I went there I wouldn’t play, I’d be loaned out to a smaller club, maybe even in a weaker league.

“I’m confident this is the right decision. I could stay at Dinamo for however long I want. I could stay here until the end of my career!”
