Arsenal legend claims fierce rivals are in title race as Wenger’s side fall to Chelsea

Speaking in light of Arsenal‘s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, Thierry Henry has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are in the title race.

While the Gunners fell to a 1-0 home defeat to struggling Chelsea, with Diego Costa’s first-half goal settling the contest following Per Mertesacker’s sending off, Tottenham demonstrated their improving maturity and resiliency with yet another victory this weekend.

Despite falling behind to Crystal Palace when Jan Vertonghen scored an own goal, Spurs showed their resolve and picked up all three points when Nacer Chadli, Harry Kane and Dele Alli (who bagged a sublime wondergoal) each found the net.

The Lilywhites’ tenacity and endurance came in stark contrast to Arsenal, who were meek at Stoke City last weekend, and have lost their grip on top spot.

Following the weekend’s fixtures, the Gunners have dropped to third—now three points behind leaders Leicester City—and behind Manchester City on goal difference alone.

Indeed, Arsenal are now only two points ahead of Spurs, and Gunners great Henry is anxious that Tottenham represent credible contenders for the EPL crown.

“Now, Tottenham, coming from nowhere, are two points behind Arsenal and nobody has been talking so much about them winning the title. Now, they are well in it. It’s a four-team race for the title,” Henry admitted, speaking on Sky Sports [as per Sky Sports’ official website].

“They are in it. They are two points away from Man City and Arsenal with +22 goal difference. Arsenal have to go to the Lane. I never thought I would have said it, but they are in it.”
