Mesut Ozil demands Arsenal exit after rejecting new contract offer

Reports in Spanish publication Marca are claiming that Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is demanding to leave the club after knocking back their offer of a new contract.

The Germany international has been one of Arsenal’s key men this season and has been central to Arsene Wenger’s push for the Premier League title.

Following his £42million move from Real Madrid back in 2013, Ozil struggled to hit top gear, but has since silenced his critics to establish himself as a true creative force in the English top flight.

Arsenal had been hoping to tie him down to a new contract as a reward for his good recent form, but according to the report he is not keen on committing himself and has told the club that he wants to move on over the summer.

Marca also claim that Barcelona have made contact with the World Cup winner’s agent and are willing to test Ozil’s resolve with the lure of greater Champions League success if Arsenal fail to compete.
