Jurgen Klopp to be handed £100m summer budget – two top-class Bundesliga stars on his shortlist

Jurgen Klopp will be handed a £100m warchest in the summer transfer window to turn Liverpool into Premier League title contenders, according to The Sun.

The Sun reports that owners Fenway Sports Group have been impressed with the German’s work at Anfield, although they remain on course to finish outside of the top four.

A goalkeeper is one of Klopp’s priorities and The Sun understands that he wants to buy British – with Southampton’s Fraser Forster and Stoke City’s Jack Butland in his sights.

But most of Klopp’s monster budget would be spent on a marquee attacker, and for that the former Borussia Dortmund boss might return to the Bundesliga market.

The Sun claims that Klopp feels Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be a perfect signing, while Bayern Munich winger Mario Gotze remains an ambitious target.

Former Liverpool defender Alan Hansen recently told The Independent that Liverpool would need to spend £200m to compete for the title – so even Klopp’s reported budget may not be enough.

The Reds have already struck a deal to bring in Schalke 04 defender Joel Matip, while young Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic, signed in January, will link up with the squad next season.
