Roberto Firmino has now scored in three consecutive games after hitting the net late on in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Manchester United in the first let of their Europa League last 16 tie.

The red-hot Brazilian slotted home from close range, following a cross from Adam Lallana.

Although Lallana will be credited with the assist, United midfielder Michael Carrick is the man who truly deserves it.

Carrick had the chance to clear his lines, but he failed to do so. His miskick returned the ball to Lallana, who put it on a plate for Firmino.

Both of Liverpool’s goals were fortunate – their first was a debatable penalty converted by Daniel Sturridge.
