Napoli star’s agent welcomes interest from Arsenal this summer

The agent of Napoli midfielder Jorginho has insisted that they would be willing to talk to Arsenal and Real Madrid if the clubs make an offer.

Fresh from getting a call up to the Italy squad this week, the Brazilian-born Italian has continued to impress under Maurizio Sarri this season and has played a fundamental role in the club’s push for the Serie A title.

Having made 27 league appearances so far this season, contributing four assists, the 24-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most talented play-making midfielders in Europe.

In turn, it is no surprise that he is attracting interest from outside of Naples, and worryingly for the Partenopei, it appears as though they will have to be careful in order to avoid losing him.

“It was in England that I was first asked about Jorginho but now everyone knows him and it’s obvious that a lot of teams are following him,” Joao Santos told Radio Crc, as reported by Gazzetta World.

“Real Madrid and Arsenal know Jorginho, if they came forward with an official offer we’d talk but at the moment all I can say is that Jorginho has a five-year contract with Napoli and wants to play for them in the Champions League next year.”

From Napoli’s perspective, they will want to do whatever they can in order to hold on to Jorginho, and qualifying for the Champions League will certainly help their situation across the board.

In contrast, a move to Arsenal would seem slightly strange given the options that Arsene Wenger has at his disposal at the Emirates currently.

Unless the French tactician is planning a mini overhaul, the likes of Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Mohamed Elneny and Mathieu Flamini could all make an argument to feature in the two deeper midfield roles.

As a result, it appears as though Wenger is well covered in that department, and perhaps he would be better served investing in different areas.
