Man United track major Barcelona star, Red Devils primed to pounce if contract talks break down

Barcelona are a team of superstars.

While their MSN attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar understandably get the majority of the glory, midfield anchor man Sergio Busquets is arguably just as important.

While Busquets – like all of his teammates – is a fantastic footballer, it is his tactical and positional disciple which makes him such a vital player for Barca.

Busquets has made 77 interceptions and successfully completed over 100 tackles in the Champions League and La Liga this season.

Without Busquets, Barca would lack balance and be extremely vulnerable to counter-attacks. With him, they are undisputedly the best team on the planet.

Barca would be foolish to allow Busquets to become dissatisfied at the Camp Nou, but that is exactly what Manchester United are reportedly hoping will happen.

Busquets wants a new contract to put him in line with the money that Gerard Pique and Luis Suarez are on, according to Fichajes, who claim that United are on alert and will try to sign him if his value drops as a result of a strained relationship between club and player.

Since making his Barcelona debut in 2005, Busquets has won five La Liga titles, three Copa del Reys, three Champions Leagued and three Club World Cups. He also won the 2010 FIFA World Cup with Spain and the UEFA European Championship two years later.
