Videos & goals: Bilbao 1-2 Sevilla – Iborra late winner gives Sevilla Europa League boost

Three second half goals ended with Sevilla getting their first away win in the Europa League or La Liga this season, taking two important goals into the upcoming home leg against Athletic Bilbao.

It was a slow first half, with neither team creating too many clear cut chances. Aritz Aduriz came closest with an impressive headed effort, but saw it crash off the post and fly out of play.

Sevilla hit the post with an effort of their own, a long-shot pushed onto the woodwork by the goalkeeper. That was as close as either side came though, and neither keeper had all that much to do in truth.

The second half was instantly more exciting, with Aduriz scoring after a matter of minutes. A great cross from Iker Muniain found the forward at the far post, and some poor marking allowed him to head it home.

Having created a goal for his own side, Muniain then gifted Sevilla one. A really poor header back towards his keeper was picked up far too easily, and a smart finish left the keeper totally helpless.

Late on in the second half Vicente Iborra got the winner, latching onto a superb no look pass from Kevin Gameiro. The Frenchman’s defence splitting pass made it harder to miss than score, and Iborra simply tapped it past the keeper to make it 2-1.

Two away goals is a fantastic result for Sevilla, who are notoriously strong at home. They’ve won 20 of their last 22 games at home in all competitions, and the fact that Bilbao will have to come out and attack – needing two goals to go through – could play right into their hands.

The second leg should be a really exciting fixture, hopefully full of goals.
