Nigerian wonderkid Iwobi—who made his competitive debut for the Super Eagles against Egypt during the recent international break—has told Arsenal Player [via Arsenal.com] that he learns from the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and even Joel Campbell.
Discussing his admiration of Ozil, Iwobi has revealed that despite observing the German international, he still doesn’t know how he manages to find so much space in which to operate.
“I would say I learn from people like Mesut Ozil and Alexis because of my position, and sometimes when I play up front I learn off Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud and Joel Campbell,” Iwobi began. “Training with them everyday, I learn a lot,” he continued.
“For me, I have learnt most from the way Ozil gets into space. I don’t know how he gets into space because on the pitch you think someone will get close to him but he always seems to have time and space.
“That is something I have been watching him do, because he is always aware of what is around him. I have learnt a lot from him.”
The time spent learning alongside Ozil and others is clearly paying off for Iwobi, who has made an enthralling impact with Arsenal in recent weeks.
