Real Madrid & fellow Euro giants baulk at £80m asking price for Chelsea star

According to the Express, Chelsea may well be forced to revive their asking price for star man Eden Hazard if they are to offload him this summer.

The tabloid note that while the Blues are holding out for £80 million for the Belgian playmaker, prospective suitors Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are only willing to part with a fee much closer to the £60 million mark.

The Blues signed the midfielder from Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille in 2012, parting with a reported £32 million [fee as per BBC Sport] to bring the attacking midfielder to Stamford Bridge.

In the intervening seasons, Hazard has blossomed into one of the Premier League’s most effective forwards, managing to add end product to his undisputed technical prowess.

He shone last season, scoring 14 goals and contributing nine assists in 38 outings as Chelsea—then under the guidance of Jose Mourinho—romped to the EPL title.

This season, however—as with various other players in the Pensioners’ squad—Hazard’s form has dropped off significantly during the club’s ongoing malaise.

Hazard has failed to find the net this season, making just three assists, and it remains to be seen whether he can rediscover the form he demonstrated last term.
